Postcard from Arisa Trew at Belco Bowl Jam 2024

Belco Bowl Jam went down this weekend in Canberra and we hit up Australian Pro skater Arisa Trew to hear what she’s been up to, besides not-so-casually Over-Under 540 with Taj Wolfenden… and also taking out the Womens win.

Hey Arisa! Thanks for checking in with us. Have you been to Belco before?

I have been to Belco once for a AIS (Australian Institute of Sports) camp not to long ago but I did not get to skate because I was injured at the time so I just watched the other skaters. It looked super fun so I was stoked when I got the chance to skate the bowl.

Who are you here with?

I’m in Belco with my dad and Vans

What makes Belco unique compared to other comps you’ve been to?

Belco is a bowl jam and has other smaller features in it like the doubles comp, highest air, longest grind etc. so it’s very different to what I’m used to, the comps I usually compete in have set order of whose turn it is in the comp. Both are super fun

Besides ripping the bowl, what other fun stuff have you been up to this weekend?

This weekend was super fun because I love competing in comps but I also love comps because I get to see some of my friends that don’t live close to me so I can kind of catch up with them and hang with them at the comps.

Have you had time to hang out with the Vans team? They must be so stoked to have you here with them!

I’ve seen some of the vans team at competitions and photo shoots before but this was my first time skating with a lot of the other crew of vans skaters.

What do your plans look like after Belco - are you going overseas again soon?

This week I’ll be going to Dubai. First I will skate aljada skatepark in Sharjah for a week and then go to Dubai for the competition!

And will we see you at Bowlzilla this year?

Unfortunately no, I will be in Dubai when bowlzilla is on. Wish I could be there!
