A piece of skate history is in a charity auction with the world’s first skateable box tried and tested by skate legends Eric Koston, Paul Rodriguez and Elissa Steamer. EBay and Nike are reissuing the iconic “eBay Dunk,” a tribute to the “Charity Dunk” sneaker released 20 years ago which merged a skate shoe with the iconic eBay colours. The only sneaker was originally sold on eBay for a whopping $USD30,000 raising money for charity and the samples were destroyed with one pair being sawed into 4 pieces to protect the value of the auctioned pair. That pair is considered the rarest Nike SB sneaker and a holy grail amongst collectors.
In honour of Sandy Bodecker, the pioneer of Nike SB and owner of the original “Charity Dunk”, eBay is auctioning off 10 collectors’ edition tribute packages with all proceeds supporting the Bodecker Foundation which empowers creative youth to imagine and achieve their artistic, educational, and professional dreams.
The auction is now LIVE via this link and within just hours pairs have bids on for over AU$20,000.
Aussies can bid in the auction which will run for seven days from 2:00am Thursday, 8th December AEDT until 2:00am Thursday, 15th December AEDT.
